Bifloral — botanical forms in glass
Blown glass earrings inspired by plant structures, made by hand in Bogotá. Each pair is shaped through a process that will not produce the same result twice.
What is Bifloral?
DEF.Bifloral is Musae's line of blown glass earrings drawing from botanical references — petals, seed pods, and organic plant geometry translated into wearable glass sculpture. Each pair is hand-shaped, not cast from a mold.
The Bifloral pieces take their cues from the way plants organize form: symmetry that is never perfectly even, repetition that always varies. The blown glass process mirrors this — the artisan can guide the shape, but the material has its own logic.
- ·01Inspired by botanical structures: petals, pods, and organic plant geometry
- ·02Each pair is shaped individually — no molds or industrial processes
- ·03Glass is paired with 950 silver hooks for comfort and durability
- ·04Color varies across pieces — translucent effects only achievable in glass
- ·05Available in different scales — from subtle to statement
The glass-blowing process behind Bifloral
DEF.Bifloral earrings are made through lampworking — molten glass shaped at high temperature by hand, guided by the artisan's tools and breath, without molds.
Each earring starts as a glass rod heated to over 800°C. The artisan draws out the botanical form through small controlled movements — a pinch here, a pull there — that create the petal-like structures. The pair is then annealed slowly to strengthen the glass before silver findings are attached.
- ·01Glass rods heated to 800–1000°C using a focused flame
- ·02Botanical forms emerge through controlled pulling and shaping
- ·03Slow annealing reduces internal glass stress for durability
- ·04Silver earring hooks fitted by hand
- ·05Every pair inspected individually before packaging
Why Bifloral is different from floral jewelry you have seen before
DEF.Most floral jewelry — even handmade-labeled pieces — is cast from a master mold. The same shape stamped or poured hundreds of times. Bifloral is the opposite: each form is negotiated between the artisan and the material.
Factory floral jewelry uses botanical references as aesthetic shortcuts. Bifloral uses them as actual structural inspiration — the asymmetry, the slight variations in petal weight, the way translucent glass handles light the way a thin petal does. These are not decorative coincidences.
- ·01Cast jewelry: master mold → identical pieces. Bifloral: no molds, no identical pieces
- ·02Glass handles light the way organic plant matter does — translucent, shifting
- ·03Botanical asymmetry is preserved, not smoothed out by industrial process
- ·04Each pair is one-of-a-kind: buying Bifloral means buying that specific piece

01Are the two earrings in a Bifloral pair identical?
They are matched, not identical. Because each is shaped by hand without a mold, there will be subtle differences in the two pieces of a pair — slight variations in weight, thickness, or the exact curve of a form. This is intrinsic to the process and what makes them genuinely handcrafted.
02How much do Bifloral earrings cost?
Bifloral earrings are priced per pair based on the complexity of the glass work. Prices typically range from COP 60,000 to COP 140,000. Browse the current available pairs in the jewelry section to see exact prices for each piece.
03Are blown glass earrings safe to wear every day?
Yes — with normal care. Properly annealed glass is durable enough for regular wear. The main risk is hard impact against another surface. Most people wear Bifloral earrings without issue; the common-sense rule is to remove them before high-contact activities.
04What are the earring hooks made of?
Bifloral earring hooks are made of 950 silver — a high-purity silver alloy (95% pure) preferred by artisan jewelers for its workability. If you have a sensitivity to silver, contact us before purchasing and we can advise on alternative hook options.
05Can I request a specific color or botanical form?
You can indicate a color family preference or describe the general feel you are looking for. Because the glass process is not mold-based, the final form is never fully predetermined. Custom commissions are welcome — reach out via Instagram @musaejoyeria to start the conversation.
06Does Musae ship Bifloral earrings internationally?
Currently Musae ships across Colombia through the online store. For international shipping, contact us via Instagram @musaejoyeria — we occasionally arrange delivery for specific pieces outside Colombia.
07How do I care for Bifloral blown glass earrings?
Store them separately or wrapped — not loose in a bag where they can knock against other jewelry or hard surfaces. Clean with a dry soft cloth. Remove before swimming, exercising, or sleeping. The silver hooks can be polished with a standard silver cloth if they tarnish.
